Most garments can be cleaned without problems anywhere. The differences show with expensive, delicate and urgent orders. These seven questions help you choose a dry cleaner and avoid unpleasant surprises.
1. What is the turnaround and how much does express cost
The standard turnaround is usually a few days, and fast cleaning costs more. Ask for the price for each turnaround and choose the longest one that suits you.
2. Is the price final
Most garments have a fixed price. For leather, suede and garments with decoration, the price is often set after inspection. It is good to know it before you leave the garment.
3. Do they offer wet cleaning
Wet cleaning with water and special detergents is suitable for garments with the W symbol on the label and for people who prefer a process without solvents. See what the care label symbols mean.
4. Is there collection and delivery
In the large cities, many dry cleaners collect garments from your address. Ask about the threshold for free delivery and at what times they come.
5. How do they describe garments when taking them in
Good practice is to describe each item: type, colour, visible stains or damage. That way both sides know what condition the garment is in. Keep the receipt.
6. What happens if the garment is damaged
Ask about the terms in advance. If there is a dispute and you cannot reach an agreement with the dry cleaner, you can contact the Commission for Consumer Protection (CPC).
7. Where is it and when is it open
Close to home or work is convenient if you will be leaving clothes often. Check the opening hours, including on Saturday.
Example
The Clean Spot has two locations in Sofia, in Gotse Delchev and in Mladost 3, and collects garments from your address. It describes each item, sends the exact price and usually delivers within 24 hours. trqbvami.com has an editorial partnership with The Clean Spot; mentioning it is not a ranking.
